PLAYER CHARACTERS, PROGRESS & MORE ON DUNE: AWAKENING SERVERS
When playing on Dune: Awakening servers, it's important to understand how character data, progression, and server group dynamics work. While traditional backups are not available on these servers, we have systems in place to help retain your experience.
WORLDS BASICS
When you join a World, your character is tied exclusively to that world. That means:
• Your character exists only within the World it was created in.
• You can switch Worlds at any time, but you will start fresh with a new character in the new world.
• The original character will remain saved in the original World and can be revisited later.
• Progress like bases or in-world structures do not carry over between Worlds and will not be restored even if you return.
Worlds function as large persistent spaces that fill up over time. If you leave and try to return later, your character may still exist, but the World might be full, preventing re-entry.
CROSS SERVER & REGIONAL PLAY
You can encounter and play with others in shared spaces like Social Hubs if they are in the same World as you.
To ensure you end up in the same Deep Desert instance as your friends:
• Create a private server together with them, or
• if you want separate private servers make sure you create them in the same World.
JOINING OTHER SERVERS WITHIN YOUR WORLD
You can join other private servers within your World, as long as you have their server password. However, cross-world play is not possible.
KEEP YOUR CHARACTER WHEN CANCELING YOUR SERVER
If you cancel your xREALM server, your character data is not deleted. We keep your character stored safely on our end.
Should you decide to rent a new server in the future, and you select the same World as before, you’ll be able to continue right where you left off with the same character as long there is some free space in this World.
This gives you the freedom to pause and return without losing your character.
