Palworld Server Settings Explained: Best Values for Your Server ⚙️
Palworld server settings let you customize how your world feels. On your xREALM Palworld Server, you can make leveling faster, reduce grinding, change death penalties, increase Pal spawns, speed up egg hatching, or adjust your server for a bigger community.
Most settings use simple multipliers:
- 1.0 = default
- 2.0 = twice as much
- 0.5 = half as much
So if you set the EXP Rate to 2.0, players earn double experience. If you set Item Weight to 0.5, items weigh half as much. Some settings work differently, such as Death Penalty or Crossplay, but most gameplay settings follow this multiplier logic.
Below, we explain the most important Palworld server settings and what happens when you change them.
EXP Rate ⭐
EXP Rate controls how much experience players and Pals receive.
ValueEffect
0.5
Slower leveling
1.0
Default leveling
2.0
Double experience
5.0
Very fast progression
For a casual server with friends, 2.0 is usually a good value. It makes progress feel faster without completely skipping the early game.
Higher values like 5.0 are fun if players want to rush through the game, but they can also make progression feel less rewarding.
Pal Capture Rate 🟢
Pal Capture Rate changes how easy it is to catch wild Pals.
ValueEffect
0.5
Harder captures
1.0
Default capture chance
1.5
Easier captures
2.0
Much easier captures
If your players are frustrated by failed captures, increase this setting slightly. For most private servers, 1.5 to 2.0 feels comfortable.
Do not set it too high if you still want catching rare Pals to feel special.
Pal Spawn Rate 🐾
Pal Spawn Rate controls how many wild Pals appear in the world.
This is one of the most noticeable Palworld server settings because it changes how alive, crowded, or chaotic the world feels.
ValueEffect
0.5
Fewer wild Pals
1.0
Default amount of Pals
2.0
Many more Pals
3.0
Herds of Pals roaming around
At 1.0, the world feels normal. You see wild Pals in the usual places, and the game keeps its intended balance.
At 2.0, the world becomes much busier. You will run into more wild Pals, more fights, and more opportunities to farm resources from them.
At 3.0, things can get chaotic. Instead of a few Pals walking around, you may see whole herds roaming through the world. This can be funny and exciting, but it also makes areas more dangerous and can increase server load.
Higher Pal spawn rates mean the server has to process more AI, more movement, more combat, and more world activity. For small friend servers, 1.5 or 2.0 can be fun. For larger community servers, staying close to 1.0 is usually safer.
Egg Hatching Time 🥚
Egg Hatching Time controls how long eggs take to hatch.
ValueEffect
0.5
Eggs hatch faster
1.0
Default hatch time
2.0
Eggs take longer
For casual servers, lowering egg hatching time is one of the best quality-of-life changes. Players can breed Pals without waiting forever.
For survival or long-term servers, keeping this closer to default can make breeding feel more meaningful.
Death Penalty 💀
Death Penalty controls what players lose when they die.
SettingEffect
None
Players drop nothing
Item
Players drop items, but keep equipment
ItemAndEquipment
Players drop items and equipment
All
Players drop items, equipment, and Pals from their team
For most servers, Item is the best middle ground. Death still matters, but it does not completely destroy the player’s progress.
For casual friend groups, None can be more relaxed. For hardcore servers, ItemAndEquipment or All creates a much more punishing experience.
Be careful with All. Losing your items is annoying. Losing your team of Pals can turn one bad fight into emotional damage.
Collection Drop Rate ⛏️
Collection Drop Rate controls how many resources players receive from gathering.
ValueEffect
0.5
Fewer resources
1.0
Default resource amount
2.0
Double resources
3.0
Very high resource gain
This affects farming materials like wood, stone, ore, and other gatherable resources.
For a smoother experience, 2.0 is a great value. It reduces grinding and lets players spend more time building, exploring, and catching Pals.
Enemy Drop Rate 🎁
Enemy Drop Rate changes how many items enemies drop.
ValueEffect
0.5
Less loot
1.0
Default loot
2.0
Double loot
3.0
Very generous loot
Increasing this setting is useful if your players want faster crafting and less farming. Keep it at 1.0 if you want the normal survival balance.
Item Weight 🎒
Item Weight controls how heavy items are in player inventories.
ValueEffect
0.5
Items weigh half as much
1.0
Default item weight
2.0
Items weigh twice as much
Lowering item weight makes gathering and building much more comfortable. For casual servers, 0.5 is a strong quality-of-life setting.
Increasing item weight is only recommended if you want inventory management to be more difficult.
Day and Night Speed 🌙
Day Time Speed controls how quickly daytime passes.
Night Time Speed controls how quickly nighttime passes.
ValueEffect
0.5
Slower time
1.0
Default speed
2.0
Faster time
Many players prefer longer days and shorter nights. A common setup is to keep daytime at 1.0 and increase nighttime speed to 2.0, so nights pass faster without removing them completely.
Player and Pal Stamina 🏃
Stamina settings control how quickly players or Pals lose stamina.
ValueEffect
0.5
Stamina drains slower
1.0
Default stamina drain
2.0
Stamina drains faster
Lower stamina drain makes exploring, climbing, flying, and riding mounts feel better. For casual servers, 0.5 is a good value.
Higher stamina drain makes survival harder, but it can also feel frustrating if players spend too much time waiting.
Player and Pal Damage ⚔️
Damage settings control how much damage players and Pals deal or receive.
Attack rate changes outgoing damage.
Defense rate usually changes incoming damage.
ValueEffect
0.5
Less damage
1.0
Default damage
2.0
More damage
If you increase player attack damage, players become stronger. If you increase player damage taken, the game becomes harder.
Be careful when combining high Pal spawn rates with higher Pal damage. More Pals plus stronger Pals can quickly turn the world into a survival horror game.
Max Worker Pals per Base 🏗️
This setting controls how many Pals can work at one base.
Increasing it allows bigger and more productive bases, but it can also affect performance. Worker Pals are not just standing around. They move, transport items, eat, pathfind, work on stations, and interact with base objects.
For small friend servers, slightly increasing this can be fine. For larger public servers, keep it moderate to avoid unnecessary server load.
Max Bases per Guild 🏠
This controls how many bases one guild can own.
More bases give players more freedom, but they also create more structures, more workers, more storage, and more background activity.
For private servers, increasing this can be fun. For community servers, too many bases per guild can become a performance problem.
Crossplay 🎮
Crossplay controls which platforms can join your server.
Palworld dedicated servers support crossplay between Steam, Xbox / Microsoft Store, macOS, and PS5. For console players such as Xbox and PS5, the server needs to be available as a community server so they can join through the server browser.
For most servers, keeping crossplay enabled is the best option because it allows more friends to play together.
Server Password 🔒
A server password controls who can join your server.
Use a password for private friend servers. Leave the server open only if you want to run a public community server.
A simple password can prevent random players from joining, taking resources, or causing chaos. Palworld already has enough chaos. No need to import extra.

Pal Spawn Rate
1.0 to 1.5
Collection Drop Rate
2.0
Enemy Drop Rate
1.5
Item Weight
0.5
Death Penalty

This setup keeps the game fun, faster, and less punishing without making everything completely overpowered.
Best Settings for a Fast Progression Server 🚀
These values are better if your group wants to progress quickly:
SettingRecommended value
EXP Rate
3.0
Pal Capture Rate
2.0
Pal Spawn Rate
1.5 to 2.0
Collection Drop Rate
2.0 to 3.0
Enemy Drop Rate
2.0
Egg Hatching Time
0.5
Death Penalty
None
This is great for players who want less waiting and more action.
Best Settings for a Community Server 🌍
For public or larger servers, stability matters more than extreme settings.
SettingRecommended value
EXP Rate
1.0 to 1.5
Pal Capture Rate
1.0 to 1.5
Pal Spawn Rate
1.0
Collection Drop Rate
1.0 to 1.5
Death Penalty
Item
Max Worker Pals
Keep moderate
Max Bases per Guild
Keep moderate
Backups
Enabled
Avoid pushing Pal spawns, base limits, worker limits, and player slots too high. These settings can increase server load and cause lag if they are overdone.
Settings That Can Cause Lag ⚠️
Some settings are more performance-heavy than others. Be careful when increasing:
- Pal Spawn Rate
- Max Worker Pals per Base
- Max Bases per Guild
- Max Players
- Building Limits
- Enemy or raid events
The biggest one is Pal Spawn Rate. Setting it to 3.0 can make the world feel packed with herds of Pals, but it also gives the server much more work to do.
If your server starts lagging after changing settings, reduce Pal spawns first, then check worker Pals, base limits, and player count.
Final Thoughts ✅
The best Palworld server settings depend on how you want to play.
For a small friends server, faster EXP, easier captures, more resources, lower item weight, and faster egg hatching usually make the game more fun.
For a larger community server, keep things more balanced. Too many Pals, too many bases, too many workers, and too many players can quickly hurt performance.
Start with small changes, test how the server feels, and adjust from there. Palworld gives you a lot of freedom, but not every slider needs to be pushed to the moon.
